Founded as The John D. Walsh Company in February 1942, the company's roots were as an agent / broker working worldwide with various producers of fragrance and flavor raw materials. The original home of the company was 32 Broadway, in lower Manhattan. In June of 1953, the company incorporated.

In 1976, the business left Manhattan and moved to Glen Rock, New Jersey. The already growing company began to recognize the need to keep some materials in stock in order to better serve its customers.

Continued growth through the 1980s necessitated another move. In 1992, the previous facility was purchased in Ringwood, New Jersey. Since moving to Ringwood, the company has become increasingly involved in the distribution of fragrance and flavor raw materials.

The John D. Walsh Company evolved from a agent / broker of essential oils to a distributor of aroma/flavor chemicals, essential oils, concretes and absolutes, representing such companies as: Destilerias Munoz Galvez
S.A., IFF Inc., PFW B.V.,Innospec., Hydrodiffusion de Guatemala
S.A., DSM, Firmenich's Flavor division as well as others.

In the spring of 2004, construction began on the company's new offices and warehouse at 25 Executive Parkway. The new home of The John D. Walsh Company, Inc. opened its doors on June 13, 2005, and is just a short distance from our previous location at 235 Margaret King Avenue.
